Streamlining the Design Review Process

Multiple project design reviews can have a detrimental effect to a firm’s bottom line. Furthermore, a lengthy review process can serve to erode the client/architect relationship. Please join us for Wednesday’s chapter meeting where we will have a panel discussion with representatives from Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review , Commercial Corridor Review Board, as well as, Mount Pleasant Commercial Design Review Board. We will be asking them to relate their experiences on how to make the review process go both smoother and faster. On the panel will be:
Dennis Dowd
City Architect/Preservation Officer – City of Charleston
Dowd has focused on preservation, including extensive renovations of the Forsyth Institute in Boston, a 1914 Beaux Arts gem now owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, and St. John's Episcopal Church in Stamford, Conn. Dowd, promises to be agnostic about style, believing both classical and contemporary buildings can fit in here --if designed correctly.
