Charleston County’s Facilities Department is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, registered Architect or Engineer/Project Manager to join our small group of professionals in the Design & Construction Division. The successful candidate will manage projects for the Charleston County Public Library Capital Improvement Program which includes the design and construction of 5 new libraries, 1 administrative/support building, and technology/electrical infrastructure upgrade and selective renovations to 13 regional and branches libraries. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of assigned projects from beginning to end.
The position is funded for 5 years.
Manage professional Architectural/Engineering consultant contracts, prepare RFQ’s, negotiate fees, perform quality reviews of contract documents, estimates, and schedules, participate in selection panels
Manage construction contracts, coordinate/review contracts and submittals, interpret contract documents, negotiate/process change orders and RFI’s, maintain construction momentum, resolve construction issues, and maintain project records
Liaison between County stakeholders, consultants, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and other involved parties
Provide design and construction support to Facilities and County staff
Bachelor of Architecture or Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
South Carolina Registration
7 years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, other design software
Knowledge of regulations, building codes, and local permitting processes
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
