Managing Director Interior Design
Insulsteel, the developer of the EcoShell high-performance building system, is looking for a highly qualified individual to head up our Interior Design Studio in Charleston, SC and to work with our custom design new construction clients in selecting and installing interior building materials and furnishings (local applicants only).
Our fully integrated team of professionals includes; architecture and interior design, structural and mechanical engineering and construction services. Our design and construction teams utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems for integrating the design, offsite manufacturing of EPS and steel composite insulated panels and the construction of high performance buildings. Simply put, we are a “one stop shop” for residential and small commercial building clients.
We are looking for an exceptional individual with extensive experience in interior design/architecture to head up client interior design services. The successful candidate will have a degree from a recognized school of design and will have experience in CAD and BIM software.
In coordination with our Insulsteel Design Group team, consult with new construction clients to design whole house and small commercial building interiors including space planning and interior selections.
- Manage key client relationships in the Interior design and selection process
- Identify and specify products and materials for key clients
- Space Planning & Design
- Lighting & Color scheme development
- Construction documentation
Design and set up a 2,500 sq. ft. design studio for client use in selecting interior products including; custom cabinetry and millwork, flooring systems, MEP product systems, lighting, windows and doors and exterior building finishes. Work with our 50 direct distributors/manufacturers to set up product displays.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum 10 years in residential interior design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or BIM software
- Ability to multi-task in “evolving” and rapid growth business
- Experience in managing a design studio and/or working in an integrated design/build team
- Highly experienced in project specification, job costing, order processing and vender management
- High level of proficiency in cabinetry design using CAD software
- Degree in Interior Design – ASID Preferred
- Project organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and an even temperament in communicating with clients, and peers
- Strong sales process management

David Thompson Architect, LLC, (DTA) is a full service architectural firm engaged in the design of restaurants, bars, hotels, retail, office and homes. The work includes adaptive re-use, historic preservation, interiors and new construction of light commercial buildings and houses. We have active projects in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Washington D.C.
DTA is seeking an Architect Level 2 or 3 to join our studio. The Architect will work with a team including two licensed Architects and two Intern Architects to participate in design work from schematics through construction documents. This position will provide the opportunity to participate in construction administration and project coordination with consulting engineers and specialists. The candidate must have 5 to 10 years of experience and should be a licensed registered architect. Proficient knowledge of and experience with Apple computers and operating systems is required.
